I’m so excited to share this super adorable cuddly cat pattern with you! Grab your hooks, yarn, and let’s dive right into it. Let’s Get Hooked!

Materials Needed

  • Black chenille yarn of ~4mm thick (200g), cotton/acrylic yarn in white, black, brown
  • 4mm and 3mm crochet hook
  • Felt cloth in black, brown, and yellow
  • Stuffing material
  • Darning needle, glue, scissors

Crochet Abbreviations

Abbreviations are in US terminology.

  • Ch – Chain
  • mr –  magic ring
  • st – stitch
  • R – round / row
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase 
  • dec – decrease
  • dc – double crochet
  • slst – slip stitch
  • BLO – back loops only
  • * – repeat
  • [] – total stitch count in each round

Hands ( make 2 )

Start with black chenille yarn and 4mm hook. 

Start with a magic ring.

R1 6sc in mr [6]

R2 (1sc, 1inc)*3 [9]

R3-R9 1sc in each stitch (7 rounds) [9]

  • Stuff the hands lightly.
  • Close the hands by crocheting the opposite stitches together with 4sc.
  • Cut the yarn.
  • Watch this part of the tutorial to see a detailed explanation on how to close hands.

Legs 

Start with black chenille yarn and 4mm hook. 

Start with a magic ring.

R1 7sc in mr [7]

R2 7inc [14]

R3-R4 1sc in each stitch (2 rounds) [14]

  • Make 2 legs. Cut the yarn after making the first leg. DO NOT cut the yarn after making the second leg. 

Connecting the Legs and Continuing the Body

  • Make 2ch and connect to the last stitch of the first leg by making 1sc, which will be the first sc of our new round!
  • Watch this part of the tutorial for a more detailed explanation.
  • Start counting from R1 again, as this is the beginning of the body part.

R1 14sc (on first leg), 2sc on ch, 14sc (on second leg), 2sc on ch [32]

R2 14sc, 2inc, 15sc, 1inc [35]

R3-R8 1sc in each stitch (6 rounds) [35]

R9 (5sc, 1dec)*5 [30]

R10 (4sc, 1dec)*5 [25]

Start stuffing the body and continue stuffing after each following round!

R11 (3sc, 1dec)*5 [20]

Crochet this round together with the hands!

R12 3sc, (4sc together with hand), 6sc, (4sc together with hand), 3sc [20]

Continuing to the Head

R13 1sc in each stitch [20]

R14 20inc [40]

R15 (4sc, 1inc)*8 [48]

R16-R25 1sc in each stitch (10 rounds) [48]

R26 (6sc, 1dec)*6 [42]

R27 (5sc, 1dec)*6 [36]

R28 (2sc, 1dec, 2sc)*6 [30]

Start stuffing the head and continue stuffing after each following round!

R29 (3sc, 1dec)*6 [24]

R30 (1sc, 1dec, 1sc)*6 [18]

R31 (1sc, 1dec)*6 [12]

R32 6dec [6]

  • Cut the yarn and close the head.

Ears 

Start with black chenille yarn and 4mm hook. 

Start with a magic ring. 

R1 6sc in mr [6]

R2 6inc [12]

R3 1sc in each stitch [12]

R4 (2sc, 1inc)*4 [16]

R5-R6 1sc in each stitch [16]

  • DO NOT stuff the ears
  • Close the ears by crocheting the opposite stitches together with 7sc.
  • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
  • Sew the ears between R24 & R29 of the head in line with the hands.

Eyes ( make 2 )

Start with white cotton/acrylic yarn and 3mm hook.

  • Start with a magic ring. 
  • Connect with a slst at the end of a round and start a new round with ch1.
  • slst and ch1 are NOT included in our total stitch count.

R1 7sc in mr, 1slst (into the first sc) [7]

R2 Ch1, 7inc, 1slst (into the first sc) [14]

R3 Ch1, (1sc, 1inc)*7 [21]

  • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
  • Using the darning needle, insert the needle into the first stitch of R3, come back to the final stitch, and insert into BLO and the loop underneath. 
  • Weave the end into the right side of the eyes. 
  • Cut the yarn.
  • Glue the eyes between R18 & R22 of the head with 4sc apart between two eyes.
  • Cut the black felt cloth into two circles of about 1cm, and Glue them onto the white eye applique.
  • Cut the brown felt cloth into an oval shape and glue it between R19 & R20.
  • Cut the yellow felt cloth into two triangles and glue them to the ears.

Whiskers

Start with black cotton/acrylic yarn and 3mm hook.

  • Insert the hook two stitches apart from the eyes and bring the yarn.
  • Make 10ch for upper whisker and cut the yarn.
  • Insert the hook two roles below the upper whisker and bring the yarn.
  • Make 8ch for lower whisker and cut the yarn. 
  • Repeat the same process to make upper and lower whiskers on the other side.

Scarf

Start with brown cotton/acrylic yarn and 3mm hook.

Start with a slip knot.

  • Make ch of around 16 inches (or as you desire, if you want a shorter or longer scarf).
  • Starting from the 3rd ch from the hook, make 1dc into each ch all the way until the end.
  • Make 1ch and cut the yarn, leaving the ends. 
  • Wrap the scarf around the neck.
